Governor Gray Davis declared October 2003, as "Apprenticeship Month." The Governor recognized the important contribution 66,000 California apprentices make to the economy and future of the state.

Chuck Cake, acting Director of the Department of Industrial Relations said, "Partnering industry, labor, education and government matches the needs of workers with those of employers.

Those who complete apprenticeship training also come away with a strong understanding of safety, health and wage standards that help them lead long and prosperous work lives."
