Public Hearings to Support
Pre-Fabrication Rulings
Recently, Chuck Cake, Director of the Department of Industrial Relations, issued two landmark rulings dealing with the requirement to pay prevailing wages on pre-fabrication work. Director Cake ruled that prevailing wages must be paid on the off-site pre-fabrication work done specifically for a particular job. The decisions are currently stayed while on appeal. Three public hearings have been set to receive public comment about the payment of prevailing wages on off-site fabrication.
We urge all building trades members to attend these hearing and express support for Director's Cake ruling and the payment of prevailing wages on off-site fabrication. The hearings will be:
June 2, 2003 - 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Doors will open at each location at 8:00 a.m.
