The built project was funded by the California’s Tobacco Tax Fund (Proposition 99) from 1999-2007, and in that time, developed numerous resources about cessation and prevention of tobacco use by construction and blue collar workers.  Many of these materials are still available in hard copy through the Tobacco Education Clearinghouse of California (TECC):  (search for “union”).

We are pleased to have received funding from Pfizer to update the website and select materials.  Please contact us at [email protected] if you have any questions.

Everything you need to know about quitting -

The more you work on something the better you get at it, or as the phrase goes, "practice makes perfect." While that certainly may apply to your trade, it doesn't always seem to apply to quitting smoking. If you have tried to quit and have not succeeded might be where you should look for help.

Here is a website that recognizes how hard it can be to quit and how addictive tobacco can be. "Having trouble quitting smoking? It's not you, it's your brain." From a "readiness indicator" that lets you see how close you are to quitting to an animated discussion of the addiction process this is a complete and entertaining quit smoking website. What are your health risks? What are your smoking triggers? How do you cope with cravings? Where can you get support? Everything you need to quit is here.

You've probably seen the TV commercials for this website. It is sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline, maker of the Nicoderm patch, Nicorette gum, and Commit lozenges. Use of one of these products is highly recommended by the website but is about more than just these quit aids.
