The built project was funded by the California’s Tobacco Tax Fund (Proposition 99) from 1999-2007, and in that time, developed numerous resources about cessation and prevention of tobacco use by construction and blue collar workers.  Many of these materials are still available in hard copy through the Tobacco Education Clearinghouse of California (TECC):  (search for “union”).

We are pleased to have received funding from Pfizer to update the website and select materials.  Please contact us at [email protected] if you have any questions.

Nurses speak out! -

Construction is dangerous work. If we get injured or become ill much of our care and recovery will depend upon nurses. The California Nurses Association (CNA) recently has had to stand up for sane staffing ratios and working conditions that will ensure patients get quality care. They deserve our support!

Nurses are on the front line of patient care and see daily the results of injury and disease on individuals and their families. The disease and death caused by tobacco has inspired some activist nurses to form the Nightingales and call for an end to tobacco marketing and promotion. Go to and read about their campaign and their "Letters Across America" project.
