The built project was funded by the California’s Tobacco Tax Fund (Proposition 99) from 1999-2007, and in that time, developed numerous resources about cessation and prevention of tobacco use by construction and blue collar workers.  Many of these materials are still available in hard copy through the Tobacco Education Clearinghouse of California (TECC):  (search for “union”).

In 1995 John Slade, MD, formed Trinkets and Trash Services to supply tobacco industry promotional items and related materials for educational purposes. Now at you can see some of the newest ads, giveaways, and special packs. There are also older, more familiar items, and some rare antiques. These images point out the long history the tobacco industry has in inventive and seductive marketing and promotion.
